Usually, I am physically located in my home office in North Scottsdale, Arizona, although sometimes I do work from Las Vegas, Nevada.
-
Like magic! I offer online therapy to clients in the states of Nevada and Arizona. Prior to each session, you will receive a secure telehealth link to my HIPAA-compliant Zoom meeting space. You just need a private space and a stable Wi-fi connection. An added bonus of online therapy is you can wear pajama bottoms and fuzzy slippers.
-
While I do not have a physical office in which to host you, I do offer in-person “walk and talk” or “coffee talk” sessions to some clients located in Scottsdale, AZ. If interested in this option, we can discuss to see if it is a good fit!
-
We can meet either weekly or biweekly, depending on what we decide is the best option for you. Sessions are 60 minutes, although I do offer longer sessions.
-
My fee for a 60-minute online therapy session is $310. I accept all major credit cards including Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Savings Account (HSA) cards.

Oh boy, I could go on and on with this question! The short answer is I don’t work within the “medical model” of therapy but rather the “wellness model.” I don’t believe in pathologizing (a fancy word for saying something is wrong with you) your issues or challenges. Insurance can dictate how I work, with whom I work, and how long I can work with you. I can, however, provide you with a Superbill, which you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement if you would like. I am happy to walk you through that process if needed. Please note that providing a Superbill requires me to provide you with a mental health diagnosis which will be added to your medical record. Many people enjoy the privacy and full confidentiality afforded with private-pay therapy.

A Good Faith Estimate (GFE) is a document that provides you with a clear breakdown of the expected costs of your therapy sessions. It is part of the No Surprises Act, which was designed to help clients paying out-of-pocket better understand and plan for the financial aspects of their care. For questions are more info about your right to a GFE, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

We will be getting to know each other! I’ll answer any questions you have about me or about the therapy process, and I’ll continue to ask you questions about what brings you into therapy (we most likely have talked about this during our consultation as well!). I’ll also go over confidentiality and privacy.
-
Yes, absolutely. And if your session is before 2pm, you will most likely see me sipping from my mug intermittently. Feel free to bring yours as well!
-
Absolutely! I enjoy when a client wants to bring someone into a session. As long as we have written consent by both you and the other person, we are good to go! Often, someone will want to bring in a partner, a friend, or a family member to work on communication or to share something difficult.
-
Another benefit of not taking insurance: you decide that! You are allowed to be in therapy for as long as you find it helpful. And we will regularly check in to see how you are feeling about it.
-
I’m so excited you asked! You can either click the “book now” button to schedule an initial free 15-minute consultation, or if you don’t see a time that works, just email me at krissy@inthelifetherapy.com or text me at (480) 485-5839 and we can set something up.
-
I have a consistency policy, which means we have established a set day/time for your session that I set aside for you each week or biweekly. That means it is YOUR time and no one else can claim it. We are committed to doing the work together. That said, you may certainly reschedule within 48 hours. You can make up for a cancelled session within the week before, during, or the week after the date of your cancellation. I have times during the week set aside for missed/rescheduled appointments.
-
You bet! Your privacy is extremely important to me, as I imagine it is for you. Our sessions are completely confidential, with a few legal exceptions related to safety, which we’ll review together in our first session.
-
Only if you want it! Some clients enjoy having specific things to work on between sessions, and others don’t want to feel like they’re in school. So it’s completely on an individual basis.

Prior to becoming the badass therapist I am now (ask me about my “Affirmations for a Badass” cards), I had many other jobs/careers. I have a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Houston. And a number of years later (ask me my age at your own risk), I received my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from La Salle University in Philadelphia. I am a licensed MFT in both Arizona and Nevada.
-
In a nutshell, I am super chill. I am non-judgmental. I love to use humor but hopefully not in an annoying way.
Because I’m an MFT, I look at things systemically, a fancy way of saying I see all things as related. We don’t live in a vacuum. Many things affect us – our upbringing, our families, our relationships, our genetics, our environment. I could go on and on. I like to create a Genogram, a family tree of sorts, so I can get to know you in context of all of those things. Modalities I incorporate into our sessions may include Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Experiential, and Narrative Therapies. And for couples work I lean heavily on the Gottman Method and IFIO (IFS for Couples). You may have stopped reading or are thinking, “Wtf? That means nothing to me.” That’s ok! We can talk about any of this in session if you want to know more. Otherwise, we’ll go with the flow!
